Mayo 30 - Karaniwang araw ng palugit sa utang na dapat bayaran, ngunit sa kinakaharap ng natin bansa ngayon dahil sa paglaganap ng COVID-19 sa bansa, dahil dito maraming taong nagtatanong kung pwede bang hindi muna bayaran ang mga utang.
Ayon sa implementing rules and regulations (IRR) na nilagdaan ni Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, kabilang dito ang salary, personal, housing, auto loans, maging credit card payments. Mula Marso 16 - April 15, Walang muna dapat ipataw na interes, penalty, fee at iba pang singil. Sakop dito ang lahat ng mga bangko, quasi-banks,sanglaan, non-stock saving and loan associations, at credit card issuers.
According to the IRR of Republic Act No. 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act,” lenders cannot impose interest on interest, penalties, fees and other charges during the enhanced community quarantine period.
“All covered institutions shall not charge or apply interest… to the future payments/amortization of the individuals, households, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and corporate borrowers,” - IRR
“Violation of the provisions of these rules shall be subject to the appropriate penalties set for in the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, as all as existing laws, rules and regulations,” Ayon sa IRR.
Sakali mang pahabain pa ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang lockdown period, ayon sa IRR ay dapat awtomatikong mauusog ulit ang pagbabayad sa mga utang.
